Independence Day & Investiture Ceremony celebrated in full vigor

The hills came alive and looked like a bed of white roses, as everybody gathered there, dressed all in white and looking majestic on the 68th Independence Day on 15th August, 2014 at 7:15 AM, up on the hills on the basketball court.

The event, anchored by Mrs. Prajakta Bhide, commenced with a quote, “One individual may die for an idea; but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives. That is how the wheel of evolution moves on and the ideas and dreams of one nation are bequeathed to the next”.

These are thoughts which our great leaders like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose believed in and lived up to. And it’s only because of their sacrifice and love towards our motherland that we all had the privilege to celebrate our 68th Independence Day! She extended a warm welcome to our guest, director, principal, teachers, parents and students.

The ceremony commenced with a March Past performed by our students of class 6th, 7th & 8th, where they touched upon the significance of each colour of the flag. A flag for a nation is a symbol of its thoughts, its people, and their beliefs. Our tricolor flag too has many things to say.

Orange is the colour of sacrifice and an urge to be in-depth to our motherland. White is the path of peace based on truth. Green symbolizes our love towards nature, plants and in turn signifies how a life depends on nature. Wheel stands for motion which denotes evolution. With strong patriotic feelings stirred up in our hearts, we stood up and sang our national anthem with pride, as our guest Mr Anand Karva, Vice chairperson of PTA hoisted our national flag.

As last year merged beautifully into this year, we saw the most noble investiture ceremony which is the handover ceremony. It was time to appreciate and applaud our serving house captains and also welcome our new captains. The Winner, Yellow house was felicitated by our director Mr Anvit Phatak, with the presentation of a trophy.

Mrs. Prajakta Bhide quoted, “We believe that we are entering an era of transformation and emerging out of our cocoons and transforming into beautiful butterflies.” She added even more colour to the event by introducing our magnificent choir that fanned the passion in our hearts with a patriotic song, ‘Arun gagan par , mahapragati ka, ab phir mangal gan utha… soya hindusthan utha’.

As the ceremony came to a close, we returned to our homes totally impassioned, full of pride, respect and an urge to do something in our own way towards our motherland India.
