Event: Talk on Adventure in the Himalayas
Venue : Lower Dining Hall, Millennium National School. Pune
Time : 10:00 am - Saturday, 15th Feb. 2014

The grandest mountain walk in the world is an unmatched opportunity to trek in the Himalayas where Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay set off on their epic journey in 1953. Himalayas are said to be earth’s undecaying monuments. The 2400 km arc stretches between the Nangaparbat in the extreme northwest to Sagarmatha and Kanchenjunga in the far east.

For thousands of years the Himalayas have held a profound significance for the people of India, as our literature, mythologies, and religions reflect. Since ancient times the massive glaciated heights have attracted the attention of the pilgrim mountaineers of India, who coined the Sanskrit name Himalaya—from hima (“snow”) and alaya (“abode”)—for this great mountain structure.

In contemporary times the Himalayas have offered the greatest attraction and the greatest challenge to mountaineers throughout the world. Millennium National School wants you to enjoy the beauty of Himalayas and taste your adventure hiking enthusiasm. A first of its kind extensive trek for Millennium students and their parents is coming your way.

One such astounding expedition is the Mani Mahesh Glacier.
