Millennium School of Music launch

Musical Melange- An Ultimate Musical Treat

Millennium National School organised a musical show named, ‘Musical Melange’ to commemorate the grand launch of their Millennium School of Music. During the 90 minute show at Dr. Sudheer Phatak Memorial Hall, the morning of Saturday, 2nd August came alive with what seemed like “the best ensemble in the world”.

A true medley of music, the show evoked spirits from the past and also took us headlong into the future. The house was jam-packed with parents and friends of the school. The music got the crowd in the mood and moving which was evident with all the hand clapping and hooting. Such was the draw of this spectacular event.

They opened and closed with supreme confidence, not with familiar songs but classical. Female singer and our music teacher, Neha Katdare-Deshpande evoked the spirit of Indian Classical genre beautifully on the harmonium, while instrumentalists included snippets of popular Hindi tunes in the middle of her classics.

Mr. Anvit Sudheer Phatak, Director of Millennium National School shared his thoughts at the opening ceremony of the music school. He reminisced Phatak Sir’s (Dr.Sudheer Phatak) fondness for ‘Babuji’, the legendary Sudhir Phadke.

He recalled how Millennium happened to conceive the idea of a music school for the children and parents. “Initially, the Bandish team approached us with the idea of starting a music instrument session for our students. We started with the synthesizer. It was a big hit among kids. We thought why not start after school music sessions for the kids and their parents too. Today, the parents also need some time to pursue their hobby or to offset their latent desires.”

The Japanese 'pianica' played by Amruta Kedar was a new and refreshing melody, while the lead guitarist played by Amit Gadgil brought the house down in a frenzied handclapping and doing “once more”.

The Indian drummer Nitin Shinde and Western drummer Abhijeet Bhade commanded the well-lit stage with their presence in Jugalbandi.

Pandit Ulhas Bapat, our chief guest for the function, played his forte, the santoor with the title track of Salim-Suleiman’s greatest hits from the movie “Fashion”. It was a heart-rending and real presentation. Tabla ustad, Pt. Raju Javalkar, also the mentor of Millennium School of Music accompanied the santoor ace on tabla with his vivacious energy.

The ensemble played stunning tracks which worked beautifully with the music theme of love and romance. The entire auditorium resonated with the band’s elegant and majestic sound!

The group showed all their cards and proved that it was worth serious consideration. Now it’s time for you to step in and change your life. You can do this by actually joining the Millennium School of Music. I will. Will you?
