Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

Reviewed by swapnil
• In Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, the protagonist, Greg Heffleys vision of what an ideal summer should be is overshadowed by his mother s version of the same. • It is a beautiful summer with great weather and kids having fun outdoors. But Greg is a self-proclaimed indoor person. And his idea of a perfect summer is staying inside the house and playing video games. Unfortunately for him, his mother, Susan, has other plans, and he is expected to fall in line with them. • As per her vision of the perfect summer, Susan has several outdoor activities planned for her family to spend quality time together. They have a beach trip scheduled, and it eventually gets cancelled. They have a reading club for boys, which turns out to be not-so-great. They end up going to the town pool where Greg has to endure seeing large, hirsute men in the open showers. • Amidst all this, Greg has a sleepover with his best friend, Rowley. They watch a horror movie and later turn paranoid that the huge muddy hand from the movie is out to get them. They also start a lawn care service to pay off the huge tab they have run up at the country club. But they eventually have a fall-out as their business turns into a fiasco. • One by one, the events that unfold throughout the book turn Gregs summer into a total disaster. Gregs adventures are made more fun by the simple drawings and handwritten notes that accompany them. • Dog Days was first released on October 12, 2009, in the United States.
