Millennium National School

Millennium takes another step ahead… starting standard 11th

With the leaps and bounds that our institute is now famous for – here comes another milestone… we are starting standard XI this year (June 2012). We applied early this year, waited for all the red tape and bureaucracy to do its thing and finally, have the permission in hand from the Mantralaya and we are all set to start….

So what are we going to do? Here is a run-down on the Junior College

o      It’s an extension of school, so timing will be 8.30 am to 5.30 pm – Monday to Friday.

o      Yes, we will have a uniform (but a different, fashionable, smart one!)

o      Lunch at 11.30 am and snacks at 3.15 pm (from the Millennium kitchen)

o      Sadly, not ‘bagless’. Students will get their own books and writing material. We will provide journals, notes and worksheets wherever necessary, at extra cost.

o      We will be teaching for HSC and CET with a 40-60 weightage. As you know the debate is whether the weightage will be 40 – 60 or 50 – 50. But whatever happens, the HSC exam and CET exam, BOTH are going to be almost equally important. So there will be lots of lectures and practice tests of both types: descriptive and objective. And loads of tests and prelims in the 12th.

o      Just like school, our classrooms for Junior College are spacious and equipped with projectors etc. And of course, as per our quality and philosophy, our teachers are great!

o      Subjects offered will be Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Geography (also English, IT and EVS). English and EVS are compulsory. Additional subject combinations can be as follows:
i.     Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics
ii.    Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics
iii.   Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography

o      We don’t have vocational this year as our permission for 11th came in after the last date for vocational applications had elapsed.

o      Sports from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm every day.

o      CET style tests every week.

o      Extra things like Millennium Radio, Newsletter editing, Drama classes etc. on Saturdays

o      Sports day, Annual gathering, Science fair etc. just like school..

o      Head boy, Head girl, News desk editor, Radio head – all from 11th

We are not going to be in the centralized admission system this year. People who want admission in Millennium will have to apply in school directly after the 10th standard results are declared. The fees will be roughly between Rs 55,000 and 60,000. No transport can be provided to these students through school buses as per rules, so students will have to manage that part on their own.

A question that definitely is looming in the minds of students surely is – What about attendance? Is that compulsory?

Yes. Attendance is compulsory everywhere! No institute lets you off the hook or allows you to ‘not attend’. But just like school, we believe we are a team. Keeping in mind the school discipline, we cannot have students walking around the campus. So, students will be allowed to enter and leave just like school rules. If you are absent, you are absent for the whole day. Likewise, if you are present, you are to be present for the whole day for all the lectures.

A better way to think about it is like ‘High‘ School. All the discipline and also all the fun!
