Our school’s coverage on the IBN-Lokmat channel

Our school got featured today (24th June 2009) as a unique and bagless school on IBN-Lokmat’s Marathi channel.

Here is a link on YouTube: bag less school (opens in a new window)

Dr. Phatak’s relentless efforts have been recognized once again. Not only have we made our school bagless, thereby reducing early childhood health problems, but we have also made sure that academics does not suffer, using worksheets and multimedia.

Our children get the best of everything… be it sports or academics!

For Std. 3 onwards

Activity on this blog has been on an all time low… I promise to make it a little livelier! There were just too many things that we were all doing…

An initiative by NASSCOM

NASSCOM has organized a seminar for parents and children, where they will talk of issues related to cyber security. They are going to discuss risks of social websites, hacking, conning etc, and ways parents and children can protect themselves from these menaces. It is a good initiative, and we would encourage parents and children to attend it. It is specially beneficial to us, as most of us have Internet access at home, but hardly have any idea of the above mentioned menaces.

India  Cyber Lab – Pune a joint initiative of Pune Police and NASSCOM was setup in January 2007 at Pune Police Welfare Centre. This is the third lab in the country and we have trained 1005 officers including Judiciary and Public Prosecutors from various regions of Pune and Maharashtra till December 2008.

We are happy to announce our “Cyber Safe Pune 2009”, second of the series under the Department of Information Technology, Govt. of India funded Cyber Safety project being executed by NASSCOM-DSCI. The event is scheduled to be held between January 8 – 10, 2009 in Pune. Please find attach a draft program for the three days addressing different stakeholders spreading awareness on Information Security, Cyber Crimes, Cyber Security and Best practices and Preventive Measures for your information.

We are having a session on Cyber Safety Awareness and Quiz on the 10th of Jan 2009 at 3.00 pm to 4.15 pm at MCCIA, ICC Towers, 5th floor, B wing , specifically for school children ( 8th to 10th grade ), their parents along with two school teachers..

List of selected students for Nursery and Jr. KG (academic year 2009-2010)

We have put up the list of selected students for Nursery and Jr. KG children for the academic year 2009-2010 in the school.

You can also view the lists here:

Nursery (updated 15-12-2008)

Jr. KG (updated 15-12-2008)

Admissions for the next academic year (2009-2010) are now open!

We are glad to announce that admissions for the next academic year are now open for Nursery and Jr. KG. From Dec. 15 2008, they will open for Sr. KG onwards!  We are admitting students from Nursery, right up to the 10th grade. As usual, seats are very limited!

What has changed in the admission procedure? Not much, really. We will be accepting forms during the week, and holding a collective meeting of the prospective parents on the following weekend (Saturdays). This is also the time when we will conduct eligibility tests for the children, so bringing the child is compulsory. Parents will take a tour of the school for about 30 min. along with the kids. The kids will then be entertained in a hall where a lot of toys will keep them occupied. Parents will have a meeting with Dr. Phatak and can get their doubts, if any, clarified. It is expected that the parents visit the website (which you are!), have a look at the DVD ( given along with the admission form ) and the fee structure before attending the meeting. For KG, the test is conducted by the parents. Parents are free to come and talk to us regarding the tests. We have no problem in helping out. The list of selected students will be put on the school notice board on every Monday at 10 am. ( till admissions last ). The admissions can be confirmed by making the necessary payments by 3 pm on Friday of the same week. If the admission procedure is not completed by 3 pm on the Friday then the name on the list is considered canceled.

Do take a look at our FAQ and blog-FAQ for answers to more questions!

Open day PPT’s of last year

Since I am going to update the website for next year’s admissions, I am marking up the open day (first parents meeting of the new academic year) PPT’s here. This is because there is no other link on the main site to these.

Migratory birds

As I mentioned in my previous post, this is a great season in the school. Greenery is at its peak, and in addition to that, we have migratory birds coming and visiting us.

We have a few wild cherry plants, as well as lots of small harmless insects on the grass, that keep these birds satisfied all day long!

Here is a picture of a Kingfisher and another of our cherry tree. I’ll put up more pictures, as and when I get a chance to take pictures. Our camera zoom is quite poor, so forgive the quality.

General update

Extremely sorry for not posting for 3 months! As the school grows, we find ourselves getting caught up in lots of things – from daily administration to future planning, to facing anti-social elements.

First, we had a great Independence Day celebration. Children performed a traditional lezim, sang the national anthem, and did a march past. Phatak sir, then gave flags to the newly elected house captains (what an election campaign that was! More on that later…).

Captains and vice captains for the academic year 2008-2009 are:

Emerald
Captain:Jui Apte
Vice-Captain: Shubhankar Deshpande

Ruby
Captain: Prateek Deo
Vice-Captain: Rujuta Kelkar

Sapphire
Captain: Sejal Mehta
Vice-Captain: Malhaar Shah

Topaz
Captain: Shubhankar Pimplikar
Vice-Captain: Siddhi Salvekar

In general, August is a great season in the school, when the plants are at their greenest and flowers bloom like never before. As you can see in the pictures, everything looks so fresh! A note about our gardens – we have over 200 types of plants, and number-wise, we have over 2000! We are planning to introduce a gardening hour for our students, where they get to learn basics of gardening and plants in general.

Next, we had Gokulashtami, where all the children performed the “Dahi-Handi” breaking ritual. They didn’t actually break the handi, and the dahi was subsituted by kurmure and sakhar futane. So, not only did the children enjoy making pyramids, they also enjoyed eating whatever was in the handi!

Now, coming up is the Diwali party for all students and Bhondala for KG children…

Award announced for the toppers in our school

Mr. Suryakant Kakade, esteemed owner of the Kakade Group, and our parent, has been very kind and generous in declaring an award for the toppers in our school in the SSC result. He has given the award in the name of his father, the Late Dattatray Bhagwantrao Kakade (Guruji), who was a distinguished teacher himself.

The award amount is a hefty sum of Rs. 21,000!

Juili Shivde and Tanvi Gunabharit received the award. Juili – for being the topper in the school and scoring 50/50 in Sanskrit, and Tanvi – for scoring 150/150 in Mathematics.

We sincerely thank Mr. Suryakant Kakade for his extremely kind gesture and heartily congratulate Juili and Tanvi again!
