91 honours to begin with

Arpita Madam felicitating Dr. Shejwalkar, while Mr. Kakade and Mr. Karkare look onWe had a special program to felicitate students who achieved outstanding success in various fields in the last academic year. It was a grand event attended by all the secondary school students, the scholars to be honoured and their friends and family.

Who were these 91 scholars? 32 were 7th standard scholarship holders. They all secured the high school scholarship in the urban category. Last year 23 students has secured the high school scholarship – and we thought that itself was too much – but we were happily proven wrong by this determined group!

Then, we had 36 students who were 4th standard scholarship holders. That itself was very exciting. These little 9 year olds had worked with great determination throughout the year. They were never stressed or exhausted, but kept it up with the famous sticktoitivity and showed what a good system and hard work can achieve. And then, the icing on the cake was the result of the 10th standard students. 23 students scored more than 90 per cent in the SSC exam! And that is a quarter of our class – which is really something, because overall in Maharashtra state the 90+ club has shrunk to half. What a superb start to the school year! And the credit goes to the hard work of the students, yes – but I must say that the teachers worked harder. They had so many daily tests and prelims that were meticulously set by the teachers and painstakingly corrected. The rigorous testing and feedback makes all the difference in the world!

We invited Dr P.C. Shejwalkar to felicitate the students. He connected well with the students and made them aware of how lucky they were in an institute that cared so much about them and brought about all round development.

He told the students some stories about when he was a school goer, which was in the pre independence era. Some of his experiences were quite amusing and also helped students put things in the right perspective.

Suryakant Kakade, our parent, was also present on the occasion to encourage the students. He gave away prizes to the toppers in memory of his late father who was also a school teacher.
