Millennium National School believes in exposing its kids to as many engrossing things as possible. We believe that a child’s mind is like a sponge that absorbs everything around it. So why not feed it with the best? It gets their mood going and they respond to learning in a fresher manner. That’s why we got Scholastic India to coordinate a mesmerizing book reading session on 11th July for Std 3 kids at our school with author Kimberley McArthur, the Queen of expressions.
Her dress matched the story book perfectly and she looked like she had stepped right out of the storybook. A writer of reality books, her story telling was fantasy centric that took the children right into the story land and kept them there in a magical trance.
This is evident from all the funny faces they were making, sticking their tongues out, jumping and enacting the story to a completion. The graphic animation behind the reader captured their attention even more enabling them to relate to the story even better. Her voice was magical and carried the kids far, far into the story.
Their smiling, alert and interested expressions just goes to show how very involved and engrossed they were in the story. In the question and answer session, most hands were up showing total response, where she reached out to them lovingly.
Kids learn from not just what you teach them, but how you teach them. So what did they learn from the author Kimberly? I’m sure by the end of it all, the kids realized that being responsible citizens was actually a lot of fun!
