This post was long due…
We have been working with the Pune Municipal Corporation in powering the most advanced school that the Government has launched yet. Titled, “The Rajiv Gandhi Academy of E-Learning”, this was an initiative undertaken by Shri. Ulhas (aka Aba) Bagul. The school is located at the Shivdarshan chowk near Mitra Mandal Karyalay. Shri Bagul wanted an ultra-modern school, and who else could help them in this regard, but us!?
So, Dr. Phatak took this up as a challenge, and along with the team at Millennium, made a concrete plan of what the education methodology should be, and how we could use the electronic medium effectively.
The concept of the school is exactly like ours – bagless. The students don’t carry books to the school, and get worksheets to carry back home. The school is equipped with LCD television sets and computer labs, just like our school. As you might have already guessed, we provide worksheets to the school children there, and yes, the labs and classrooms are powered by the all-encompassing myEshala!
The teachers, children and parents at the school are extremely happy with the education being imparted to them (why wouldn’t they – our content is a class apart!). Dr. Phatak envisioned that our content and methodology should be used by one and all to effectively impart education to the grassroots. This is a positive step in that direction, and we, team Millennium, are eager to make his dream come true. We really hope that people do use what we have made effectively, so that the overall quality of grassroots education improves.
The Honorable Chief Minister Shri Prithviraj Chavhan, and the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar inaugurated the Rajiv Gandhi Academy of E-Learning on the 21st of August, 2011. Here are a few links to the press releases of the same:

Here’s hoping that the government takes a cue from this project and decides to implement our methodology, concepts and contents all over!
