Update: We have stopped the form distribution for Nursery.
I have written about our admission process before (urge you to read it before you read this article). We want to make sure that our efficiency trend continues. This year, we haven’t seen any articles in the paper like last year about parents queues, and are glad about it!
This year, short admission forms for Nursery will be distributed in the school office from November 28, 2011 onwards. The office timings are 8am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm. Forms will be available only till 2nd December 2011, 4pm.
As we have repeatedly stressed before, we do not like queues. So, if you are a prospective parent, please, there is no need to stand in queue from some ghastly midnight hour! Request you to please co-operate with us, as we are following this system for your benefit.
Please make sure your child fits within the age criteria. We are very stringent about the age criteria, so request you to please check. After filling out the short form, you will be given a username and password to fill the online application form. Please make sure you fill the online application form as soon as possible – latest by Thursday, 1st December 2011, 4pm.
Next, we will call the parents for a meeting (there are about 30 parents in one group) at various time slots in the day only on weekends (again, for convenience). They get a tour of the school so they know where the child will be, along with a presentation about the school. Then they are given a brief orientation of the school, its philosophy, the ideals etc. After that they get about 30 minutes of Q and A time where we try our best to address their queries.
Please note, here the parents are interviewing us, not the other way round! We firmly believe that the parents need to be convinced that ours is a school suitable for their child. We also arrange for the entertainment of the children. We have sports activities, some music, some drawing, amongst other things. And then, they leave. After that we have a random selection of the students and email them whether they have been shortlisted for admission. All those who were not considered the first time are again put into the pool for the next rounds. And so on and so forth, till all seats are filled.
So, do parents have to keep coming to the school to see if their name has come up in the selection? Not at all. As long as they check their email once a day, they will get the information (either way – if they do get selected ,or are put on the waiting list, or do not secure admission)! Since we are still figuring out how to get SMS’ delivered to parents, we will only use email as the mode of communication.
