Scholars Galore

We have a whopping 69 scholarship holders again this year! Find out the story behind their success.

As is our practice each year, we have a HUGE list of scholarship holders again. Let us applaud them all heartily and ask them to take a bow. Its no easy task – we all know. What goes on behind the scenes is a lot of hard work, regular studying and determination. Just take a look at the little geniuses.

Class 7

Class 4

DonÂ’t they look cute and adorable? But donÂ’t be fooled. They can crack tough problems in language skills, mathematics and intelligence. Put them on a race against the clock and watch them do their thing. And this is over and above the regular coursework that they finished during the year too.

And letÂ’s hear it for Bhargavi Thakar. She ranked 11th in the State Merit list with her 92 in English and Marathi, 88 in Math and Social Studies and 94 in Intelligence and Science bringing her total marks to 274.

How do we have so many scholars year after year? It’s the special Millennium touch. Our team of teachers, under the guidance of Mrs. Smita Deshpande, coach the students’ right from day 1. The teachers follow a very systematic schedule which enables them to complete the portion well in time, thereby granting the students sufficient time to do practice tests and revisions. They do all the theory in the classroom and then they take tons of practice tests on myEshala. They do loads of full length prelims too –for this the students and teachers come especially on Saturday. And the parents tirelessly shuttle them back and forth and wait patiently for them to take the tests. On the day of the exam, the students are confident and relaxed, as they have had so much practice that they can attempt the exams without any stress.

Here is what some of our successful scholars have to say – ‘The practice tests for the scholarship exams that are conducted in school every Saturday went a long way in making us feel confident and completely stress free on D day’. Their advice to the potential 2014 scholarship holders is ‘Maintain a regular time-table to study and follow your teacher’s instructions to the T’.

A big pat on the back, to the teachers for creating a methodical and precise study programme, continuously crafting practice tests, resolving the studentsÂ’ doubts and guiding them through the whole process.

The leadership and encouragement provided by the Director – Mrs. Arpita Karkare, the programs developed by myEshala and the co-operation and support of the parents, all these are contributing factors to the school triumphing in all academic sectors.

All in all, an excellent example of teamwork – all the special Millennium planning, which gives us an oh-so wonderful result to shout out with joy.. HURRAH! Are we looking at a 3 digit number of scholarship holders soon? Wait and watch!

Cutie pies, bawling their hearts out.. !

So, it was the 10th of June and there were nervous individuals all around school. Biting nails, anxious faces, tearful farewells – can you guess what we are leading to? It was the first day of school for our newest members, the Nursery kids!

It is always an interesting time and though we are in our 13th year, we never really tire of it. We expect the kiddos to be nervous and cranky, but its really hard to tell who is more jittery, the parent or the child!

The first day all the children were served sheera. That was comfort food for most of the children and softened the separation from mommy for most. And after that the student interactions were interesting.

Some were observing teachers and helpers quietly – wanting to interact but a little shy at first. Some were wailing their hearts out and there were still others who were comforting the howlers. Some had a lot of questions for teachers and some didn’t want to leave at the end of the day.. all in the same age group – isn’t it amazing!

They had an activity packed day – playing with balls, toys, the animals in the aviary. They were read to, did some craft work and sang songs. The enthusiastic ones danced a bit too. And at the end of their day, they went back to eager parents and grandparents.

We hope that you parents have recorded whatever you could of this first day. We know that children will never remember it, but for us parents its an unforgettable one!

Sample papers added

Just added a few sample papers for Std. 2 to Std. 6. All parents interested in the Oracles program, should check these papers out.

Please note that these are sample papers, and by no means actual test papers. The idea behind putting these up is so that parents get a clear picture of what type of questions will be asked in the eligibility test.

The Diwali Carnival 2012

With a wonderful event planned and publicized, all of us were now looking forward to the actual event – the Diwali Carnival! This was the first year that we conducted the Diwali Carnival (the idea actually came up while the core team members were discussing on having a Diwali Party – but, in the true “Millennium ishtyle”, we gave it a complete twist, and made it into a carnival! Lots of grand plans were put on the table, which had to be moderated – so there is *much* more to come in the next few years!).We decided to have competitions for Fort making and Lantern making or Rangoli making. We decided to provide children with the basics for all the competitions – rocks and mud for the forts, glue and colour paper for the lanterns, and powder for the Rangolis. Children could get more stuff from home if they wanted to. Read more

What no students have ever done before – A ‘student’ Press Conference!

Well – we had the Diwali Carnival date fixed and we had also decided that the students should have a blast of a time. So, all we had to do was plan the details. Now how could we decide what to do so the students would really enjoy it? We decided to just let the students do it! Needless to say, our students agreed to take it up! And they sat down with the teachers, made committees and planned and made schedules. Then, what? They all decided to throw open the display to the public – let all Punekars come and take a look at the killas, the rangolis and the lanterns, and the beautiful campus at night with all the decorations.
